Validata is a Derby based engineering R&D business that specialises in supporting
the R&D activities of manufacturers , laboratories, universities and other
research organisations. Our electro-mechanical workshop and laboratory areas
are equipped for the development of one-off machines, prototypes and test-rigs.
The lab holds a wide range of sensors, instrumentation, data logging equipment, prime movers and machinery.
This is all available for use on our Proof of Concept projects or for rapidly configuring
temporary experimental set-ups which test our client’s components. Unlike
contract precision engineering or manufacturing companies, where high volume
repeat orders take precedence over small one-offs, our workshop is constantly
available to support our R&D contracts.
Our premises are located within the factory of a much
larger general engineering subcontractor that boasts extensive machining, fabrication and
electrical / electronic development capabilities. The co-location enables a
mutually beneficial sharing of resources including materials, equipment and technical
expertise. Our access to additional production engineers and purchasing officers
allows us to provide rapid quotations and delivery of components.
The business is small enough to be flexible in
the ways in which we support our clients. In addition to offering our development /
testing capabilities we undertake design / detailing
projects where the client takes responsibility for hardware manufacture and
testing. We can also make our staff available for on-site support to our
clients R&D teams and can function as professional engineers,
experimental officers or workshop technicians. This type of support can range
from providing a few hours of on-site design or detailing assistance through to the
provision of a CE marked turnkey test rig. As a consequence of our own network
of suppliers and co-operation with the host factory in which we're based we're
able to offer a service to supply general machined and fabrication components made to our client’s
drawings.
Building on 20 years practical experience of performance
testing, rig development and prototype design gained in aerospace, petrochemical and combustion
environments and having undertaken numerous Proof Of Concept projects for oil
exploration and recovery projects, we bring a very practical and
effective approach to all of our work.
